How do you design systems that allow humans to compound over time?
My career has been a lab for exploring that question—first accidentally, then deliberately.
For two decades that has meant turning fragile organizations into compounding systems: first in business, then in public education, and now at their intersection with artificial intelligence.
In business, that looked like strategy consulting, leading a turnaround, a $5m bootstrapped exit at 23, and growing a logistics platform to $50m in bookings and an acquisition. Those experiments taught me how incentives, information flows, and culture can either stall or accelerate compounding in any organization.
Shifting from compounding capital to compounding human potential: I taught fourth-grade math in a poor rural district, became an award-winning teacher, and helped build a durable, district-wide movement in math instruction grounded in principles that apply to any human system. Now working to intentionally to answer that same overarching question in an education system that serves no one well and is disastrous for our most vulnerable kids.
An opportunity exists today that didn't five years ago to encode the expertise of a master teacher into an LLM and meaningfully improve math achievement in America in ways we have failed to do for the past 60 years.
